Modern, efficient and competitive, Brazilian agribusiness is a prosperous, safe and profitable activity. With a diversified climate, regular rainfall, abundant solar energy and almost 13% of all fresh water available on the planet, Brazil has 388 million hectares of fertile and highly productive agricultural land, of which 90 million have not yet been explored. These factors make the country a place of natural vocation for agriculture and all businesses related to its production chains. Agribusiness is today the main locomotive of the Brazilian economy and accounts for one in three reais generated in the country.

In the last few years, few countries have seen such an expressive growth in international agribusiness trade than Brazil. The numbers prove: in 1993, sector exports were US $ 15.94 billion, with a surplus of US $ 11.7 billion. In ten years, the country doubled its sales with external sales of agricultural products and had a growth of over 100% in the trade balance. These results led the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) to predict that the country will be the world’s largest food producer in the next decade.

Brazil is one of the world leaders in the production and export of various agricultural products. It is the first producer and exporter of coffee, sugar, alcohol and fruit juices. In addition, it leads the ranking of foreign sales of soy, beef, chicken, tobacco, leather and leather shoes. Projections indicate that the country will also, in a short time, be the main world center for the production of cotton and biofuels, made from sugarcane and vegetable oils. Corn, rice, fresh fruit, cocoa, chestnuts, nuts, in addition to pork and fish, are highlights in Brazilian agribusiness, which currently employs 17.7 million workers in the field alone.
